Viva offers aerial dance training based in Western Australia to students who are serious about building strength and skills towards performance. We are a Company in Residence at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC) working with the events team there to provide aerial entertainment for in-house and visiting events.

Being part of the Viva team also provides students with opportunities to perform when ready, both in-house and locally. From an International Women’s Day performance with 3 generations of aerialists from 13-69 years of age all in the air together, to a welcome event for BREC’s new Executive Director, all with full technical support from the BREC team. Michele teaches and directs all aspects of silks performance providing an opportunity for students to learn from an industry professional with over 25 years of event experience.

“It was so great to have you teach for us!

You have such a clear way of explaining your

methods, progressions and getting the students to

think through the elements.

You are 'The Aerial Educator.’”

Chris Mayhew, Manager ‘Circus Sports’ Perth.

The Viva Aerial Dancers train in The Cube Theatre space at BREC twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays 4-6pm, with extra weekend private classes for individual support where needed and to learn useful additional skills such as stilt walking. Training in this full height space presents a fantastic chance for students to network with professional artists, learn about different aspects of theatre and be inspired by visiting shows.

Our youngest member, Charlotte Murphy (14) will be appearing very briefly as an actor in the upcoming Australian movie “The Naked Wanderer” filmed locally in the South West of WA, about a man in a loin cloth on a quest to win back a lost love. Released in early 2019.

For students aged 14-30 who are passionate about performance and have a background in gymnastics, dance or aerial, get in touch to discuss your interest in joining our aerial performance training team. We invite selected students to a tailored try-out session to assess current strength, flexibility, commitment and physical suitability.

“I have been training in aerial silks with Michele in Bunbury Australia and in just a few months I have learned new silk skills, gained strength and flexibility and learned about the intricacies of the business side of things.

She has a wealth of knowledge and the highest standard for safety, so when working with her you know you are learning the best techniques to have fun and be safe up the silks and when training on the ground. Michele is kind, gentle and 'to the point' which makes her easy to listen to and learn from.

Thank you Michele!”

Natascha, Bunbury.
